With his stage set of monumental marble sculptures in a pool of water, Alexander Paul Kubelka creates an imaginary space in front of the castle in Perchtoldsdorf, which is both Alkmene's art workshop and the Garden of Earthly Delights. Like the epic transformations on the cloths of Arachne in Ovid's Metamorphoses, his sculptures become a medium of transformation and change.

SUMMER FESTIVAL PERCHTOLDSDORF/ New Director General
After a multi-stage selection process among 52 applicants, the search committee consisting of Intendant Prof. Roland Geyer, former Burgtheater Director Karin Bergmann and Ulrike Sych, Rector of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, recommends Alexander Paul Kubelka as Intendant for the Sommerspiele in Perchtoldsdorf.

...Kubelka had convinced "with his outstanding concept...", Geyer emphasized. The recommendation to propose him as successor to Michael Sturminger was unanimous, he said. "He sees the Sommerspiele Perchtoldsdorf as a total work of art," he said....

DON QUIJOTE 2023 / Director and Stage Designer

In his first year (2023) as director of the Summer Festival in Perchtoldsdorf, Kubelka was able to increase with his production "Don Quijote" the number of visitors by 54% compared to the previous year and was able to break even.
